Mike Wanner,
Abeome's President and CEO, has successfully led two start-up biotechnology
companies to profitable exit strategies. He served for 11+ years as CFO for Merial (North America), the world's largest animal health company and its
predecessor, Rhone Merieux, Inc. (RMI). Later, as President of ProLinia, he
profitably sold the company to Exeter Life Sciences in 2003.
Paul Price, PhD.
serves as Director of Research. Prior to joining Abeome, he
worked as Project Manager/Scientist for Beckman Coulter focused
on the development of state-of-the-art hematology analyzers with
novel cellular controls.
Mohamed Shoreibah, PhD.
serves as Director of Research and is primarily responsible for
leading the Ovarian Cancer development project. Prior to
joining Abeome, he worked at Amgen as Process Development
Scientist and has expertise in recombinant protein expression
and purification and protein glycosylation.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Kirby
Alton, PhD, Chairman, was one of the original
Amgen scientists (1981) and from 1983 through his retirement in
1999 was head of Amgen product development serving as Senior VP
of Development. During this time, Amgen brought its first
products to market; Epogen and Neupogen. Dr. Alton had
responsibility for global pre-clinical and clinical research and
regulatory activities.
John Richard is currently Managing Partner of
Georgia Venture Partners. Mr. Richard has over 25
years experience founding, managing, and funding biotechnology
businesses. He currently serves on the board of Targacept, Inc.
(NASDAQ:TRGT) and several private biotechnology companies.
Diana Murphy
currently serves as Managing Director for
Rocksolid Holdings, LLC in Sea Island, GA and
also sits on the board of Landstar Systems in
Jacksonville, FL, the Georgia Research Alliance
Venture Fund, and other privately-held
companies.
James E. Pitts III
has a long career in real estate development and
is currently owner and President of real estate
development entities Randcor, Inc and Randcor
Management Inc. of Atlantic Beach, FL.
Donald Hildebrand is co-founder
and Chairman of GeoVax Labs, Inc., a publicly
traded AIDS vaccine development company in
Atlanta, GA. Prior to GeoVax, he served as
Global VP of the Merial Biologic business and
President and CEO of Rhone Merieux, Inc.
Paul Steinfeld is the former
Chairman and CEO of Shelby Williams Industries (NYSE company)
and currently serves as Managing Director of Longbow Group LLC,
a private investment management firm. In addition, Mr.
Steinfeld is the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Slovenia.
Rocky (William) Huffman,
Jr. is President of THF, Inc, a real estate development
and investment company and serves on the board of Panda Energy
International, Inc. Mr. Huffman formerly was President of
Huffman & Associates, an independent insurance agency that was
acquired by Brown & Brown, Inc.
SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD
Richard Meagher, PhD, is Abeome's
scientific founder and CSO and Distinguished Professor at the
University of Georgia in the Department of Genetics. He is the
inventor of Abeome's DISH platform and is established as a
world-renowned expert in plant genetics and phyto-remediation.
Dr. Meagher did his post-doc work at UCSF under Dr. Herbert
Boyer, co-founder of Genentech.
Herb Heyneker, PhD, was one of the original
scientists at Genentech after his post-doc work in the
laboratory of Herb Boyer at UCSF. Dr. Heyneker has served in a
number of executive R&D positions and co-founded several biotech
companies over the years.
Christine Debouck, PhD, President of Ardennes Biosciences
LLC and formerly Senior VP in R&D at GlaxoSmithKline, is
renowned for her expertise in target validation, disease
knowledge and compound characterizations in pre-clinical and
clinical development, and biomarker evaluation with an emphasis
in oncology and infectious diseases.
Jeff Boyd, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer at Fox
Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia has an international
reputation as one of the leading scientists in the study of
molecular genetics of women's cancers. His long-term research
has focused on molecular genetics of ovarian cancer.
Linda Matsuuchi, PhD,
Associate Director of the Life Sciences
Institute at the University of British Columbia has a
distinguished research career focused on intracellular
trafficking and cell signaling of specific membrane receptors on
the cell surface of B lymphocytes.
Jack Sisley, MD, served 14 years in private practice in
General Surgery and Surgical Oncology. Immediately prior to
that, Dr. Sisley served as Assoc. Prof. of Surgery in Augusta,
GA at MCG division of Surgical Oncology.
